nice wednesday
dfd lab in the morning. observed, weighed, crushed, and melted suppositories. time it takes for theobroma oil to dissolve into an oily, stinky mess under human body temperatures = about 10 minutes. went off at 11am, woohoo! went to arts canteen where i had only $3.35 left. in coins. paid $2.70 to the western food stall auntie for cutlet + maraconi, yum! samurai tutorial. shiok, we watched a propanganda film by US for US marines depicting Japan. well.. quite interesting.. i think some of the footage was staged upon. the japs are portrayed as mindless slaves, converting their "sweat" to war materials - iron ore, bombs, planes, tanks, weapons. blindly following orders for fear of being hunted down by Shinto "ghosts" which happened to be everywhere. (sounds scary). haha if you don't believe in ghosts there's always their gestapo. well the usual pictures of dead people, civilians or marines, that will stir the blood. said something about "the jap considers death his ultimate honor", cause the reason given is that they have been indoctrinated since young. all in all, damn sad. japan, post-meiji era, doesn't seem a very nice place to live in, filled with nationalist sentiments. you work like a slave, 72 hours a week, and get very little in exchange. it is the greatest honor to die, for the Emperor. at the age of 7-8 you carry dummy rifles and straw helmets and drill and push fake artillery pieces twice your size around. you are just taught enough knowledge to make you subservient to the authorities. when u grow up, you are taught judo, kendo, sumo, and go (weiqi). then you are sent to fight and die for the Emperor and when your ashes come back, they arrive in a box and your mother is not allowed to grieve for you. what a life. ha. interesting film though. *** went to join nx for some economics "tuition". was quite good. answered alot of questions that arose due to the lecturer going too fast. didn't finish though. skipped boring stats lab. *** tmr: stats test + slack + nusps welcome tea + film watching (?) with cons and yeelian --> go home.
